The 8-PEAK Ride, Broga.
KOTRTpit view by the Adrian

Broga, it sounded like some Italian name for motorbikes or something. Just where the hell is this place? Or what type of ride was it? Anyway, we headed down south, central aka KL early Sat morning.
Before that we had some real good breakfast at the Tun Sardon market. We had this kuih which you dip into sauce made of gula Melaka, can't remember the name, ask Rin/Chen.

Pretty soon we hit the metropolis, Kay-Ell (not Superman's father). We shoot straight for Sany's house but he was picking up Prince Hady from the in-laws. So we headed for PBD (Pusat Bandar Damansara) because Rin had to meet the potential buyer for his Time, Roslan. We still had time for lunch before the rendezvous, so we had Subs.
A foot long for me please...

Rin wolfed down his 6incher fast and met Lan first and Chen and I joined him later. Halfway through the "con-ning" session, we meet Small Toe, he was picking up Ma’am Judy from work. There we were standing by the roadside while Rin did his usual goreng process of getting the potential buyer to go for his bike. They talked from roadbikes to mtbs to golf to who's sister who were colleagues, to politics! Man! Rin, is he going to buy the bike or not?! We stood in the sun for about 2hrs, I think half of Damansara already knows us, the people with bikes on the car roof.
Remember our deal Rin...

Soon we were hitting the "candy stores" of KL. Boon Foo has some REAL cool water bottles, about $100 was deposited. At KSH we were given a good piece of advise for the next day's ride, BE CONSERVATIVE! From someone who was in the L’kawi Ironman!

Then to Reeliance and another $550 was forked out for the limited edition Ducati Crosshair Oaks from me...

We only had about 5hours of sleep, it was my first experience sleeping next to the KOTRT's jumbo jet.

We got to the meeting point, Ulu Langat Batu 14 at about 7am the next morning. After the briefing, I could only hear hills, hills and hills.

True to the word, 5km into the ride, downshifting was required. It was about a 5k climb, my heart hasn't started pumping yet! But the view was pretty good and it was misty but I could see that the sky was clear, very clear. At the foot of the hill we took a right and was riding along a nice dam. I think this is near Teratak Tekala.

After the first climb, we stopped for a short breakfast at Lenggeng (I think).this town is so small 100 cyclists means traffic jam.

We proceed and we were faced with another steep, 2k climb. After this there was some real DH action, think some riders hit about 70kms/h! Then it was generally flat after that. This is when we were averaging at 40km/h. Crank it up!

We arrive at Kuala Klewang and we see Sany's and Fuji's turbo beasts parked at a Petronas while they were enjoying their nasi lemak while we were paddling in the sun and hungry. We moved on until Titi, which is the designated lunch spot, but unfortunately it is predominantly a Chinese community and there were only 2 Malay stalls, which were closed on Sundays. I felt bad for our Muslims friends who only had toast for lunch, not something you wanna do if you have a 12k climb ahead of you. It was already noon and we pushed on towards the toughest part of the ride, the Titiwangsa range. This is a LONG climb for me. It starts off gradually, like all killers and of course at the last bit, it “rewards” you with 2 sweet climbs with the scorching sun right on your back. What can’t kill you can only make you stronger…

Then it’s followed by a super fast descend, I nearly lost control here, I still suck at going down hill, even though my bike has been fitted with the 120cm Deda (loaned from the Chief).

We were back at the dam but from the other side this time. That means we have to climb the first hill that we came down this morning. I noticed that Rin was already preparing his attack but I didn’t follow because… I was tired! What other reason is there?
Soon enough we took a right and there it was, the last of the ascends, it was only about 2km but after 5hrs of riding in the blistering heat, it could be like going up the Swiss Alps.

Finally we reach our car at 2pm.
