Overview
Penang State EXCO, Majlis Sukan Negeri Pulau Pinang and Kelab KOTRT (here after known as KOTRT - Knights Of The Round Table) are proud to announce that the premier mountain biking 2 day event is returning to Penang for the 7th time. The Kayuh Lasak Penang Mountain Bike Jamboree 2009 is expected to receive well over 700 entries.

We’re back and we remain faithful to our original goal of promoting Sports Tourism and showcasing what Penang has to offer as a mountain biking destination.

The two day event starting on December 5th will show riders from all over Malaysia, Singapore and other countries the best that Penang can offer. On that day, participants will ride their mountain bike through the roads of Georgetown for The Penang Heritage Experience on Wheels (PHEW). Riders will scour the streets looking for heritage sites, treats, trades and then reward themselves at the best hawker stalls Penang can offer. To make sure it is not only fun, riders will have to answer a quiz based on what they have seen and test their wits as well. Sponsored goodies will be given away as prizes to the winning team.

On Dec 6th, the main event, “I'm Back!” challenge will start at 8.00am from Penang Municipal Park (Youth Park). The total ride, lasting from 4 to 6 hours for the average rider, will push him/her beyond his/her limits of endurance. A farewell dinner, hosted by the State Government and prize presentation will be held that evening.

The Kayuh Lasak Penang Mountain Bike Jamboree has been recognized as one of the toughest events for Mountain Biking in Malaysia and yet it is fun-filled to ensure more riders keep coming back to Penang for a taste of that special magic our State has to offer. Our Jamboree over the years have attracted a faithful following with ever increasing participants year after year. This year that figure is expected to exceed 700. This is a testament to the quality of Mountain Biking in Penang and the overwhelming support of the authorities, sponsors and cycling community alike.

KOTRT believes that nowhere else has such an event combining Food, Heritage and Adventure riding ever been conceived or attempted. It will make our island the brightest spot on the mountain biking map of this region.

Organizing Committee
KOTRT will undertake to jointly organize and run this event with the Penang State EXCO and MSNPP under the joint chairmanship of YB Lydia Ong (Penang State EXCO), En Hj Mohd Akbar Mustapha (MSNPP) and En Shamoon Shabudin (KOTRT).
